Ava & Jackson Win Large Pony Division Champion at the Atlanta in the Spring Horse Show

Fairburn, Georgia – On the first anniversary of their first time showing together in the Large Pony Division, Ava Hartman and Sugarbrook West Point (Jackson) clawed back from behind to win the Tri-Color, Champion ribbon on a rainy Sunday morning at the Chatahoochie Hills Eventing Center in Fairburn, Georgia.

On Saturday, Ava and Jackson finished with three second place ribbons. The day marked the first time since November that Ava and Jackson failed to win the Under Saddle portion of the division (on that day, they finished third behind Pony Final Champions Kat Fuqua and Maddie Tosh).

“Jackson and I were a little bit off finding some of our distances today,” Ava said after the Saturday rounds. “We did a lot of good things, but we’ve got to do much better tomorrow if we want to be in the running for Champion”.

They did just that, finishing their two Sunday Large Pony Division rounds (both Hunter Over Fences rounds) with first and second place ribbons. Their 34 points for the weekend earned them the Champion placing out of 7 talented Large Pony riders. Sunday turned out to be a great day overall; starting the morning with a score of 83 in the WIHS Pony Medal, which was good enough for first of 11. They finished the morning with scores of 79 and 82 in the Pony Hunter Classic, which earned them second of 12 pony riders.
