Ava and Cadbury Score an 85 to Win the WIHS Pony Medal & Earn Reserve Champion at Chatt Hills

Fairburn, Georgia – This weekend, it came down to the very last ride with, Ava Hartman and Cadbury (Nugget) finishing as Reserve Champion in the Medium Green Pony Division. The pair started a bit slow on Saturday morning with some distance issues in both their warm-up (M&S) and first hunter over fences rounds. After leaving the ring to clear their heads and spend a few more minutes in the warm-up area, Ava and Nugget returned to earn 1st place in the second over fences round and 3rd in the flat. This put them in 2nd place for the division (trailing by 8 points) going into Sunday’s rounds.

On Sunday, the pair returned on a mission — needing two first place rides to catch up and win the division. They started the day by scoring an 85 in the WIHS Pony Medal round, which earned them 1st place out of 13 riders. Then, they rode on to earn 1st place in the first hunter over fences round, but finished second in the second hunter over fences round. While not enough for Champion, the pair finished as Reserve Champion just a few points behind Posh Ever So Clever.

“We had a rocky start and finished last in that first ride,” she said. “We were playing catch up for the rest of the weekend, but I am so happy with the result. Nugget was a total rock star. This pony has so much heart and he loves to jump — I think he could do 3’6″ if he wanted. I am so thankful that Ali Binetti trusted me to ride him this season.”

Ava and Nugget will be back at it next weekend for the first week of the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) Welcome Series.
