Ava and Impression (Poe) Move Up to Children’s Division and Earn Reserve Champion at Tryon

Ava and Imposant (Poe)

Tryon, NC – In their first full show together, Ava Hartman and Impression (Poe) were impressive. They arrived in Tryon on Friday signed up for Pre-Children’s Hunter with the goal of gaining experience and without any expectations of ribbons. After the 2’9″ warm-ups on Friday went well, Ava and her trainer, Lauren Pulliam, decided to go ahead and move up from the Pre-Children’s to the Children’s division. It turned out to be a good decision.

The pair scored an 85 and a blue ribbon on their first hunter over fences ride (the 85 turned out to be the division’s highest score for the weekend). They finished the over-fences rounds with scores of 85 (1st), 68 (7th), 82 (2nd) and 81 (2nd) and placed 3rd in the hack. Overall, it came down to the last ride and Ava & Poe’s 81 was just one point shy of first, which made the difference. That being said, Ava was all smiles and very excited to earn Reserve Champion in the nine-rider division.

“Poe was such a good boy this weekend. He did everything that I asked of him and more. I wish that we could have had that second ride back – it was totally my fault for not seeing the distance. I am so proud of how far we have come together over the past few months. I can’t wait to show with him next weekend.” Hartman said after her rides.
