Ava Hartman & Impression Move Up to Jr. Hunter 3’6″ Division, Win Classic (85, 84) & Reserve Champion

Aiken, SC – Ava Hartman and Impression (Poe) started the new horse show year at the Aiken December Classic (USEF ‘A’) by moving up to the Junior Hunter 3’6″ Division. The pair had been competing in the Junior Hunter 3’3″ Division since July. Going into the new division with some nerves, the pair had a clean first hunter ride, but dropped the last rail on the course. Not to be dissuaded, Ava and Poe went back in and finished Saturday with two beautiful rides. On the second hunter/first classic ride, the pair earned first place with a score of 85. On the second classic ride, the pair followed up with a score of 84. The 169 total earned them first place (out of 13) in the combined Junior Hunter Classic.

Ava and Poe were second in the division heading into Sunday. With first and third place rides, they finished their fist Junior Hunter 3’6″ Division as Reserve Champions.

“I was really excited to move up to the 3’6″ Juniors” said a smiling Hartman after finishing the division. “I knew that moving up would be challenging, but Poe loves to jump big – I love how he looks going over the bigger jumps. I think he gets bored at some of the shows where they set the jumps a little bit soft. I was super happy with our rides. I have a lot to work on and learn, but this gave me some confidence going forward.”
